Family Service Society, Inc. offers a full range of services designed to meet the needs of families and individuals in the home, workplace, and community. Professional staff is comprised of social workers, counselors, therapists, prevention specialists and youth workers. In addition to individual and family counseling, Family Service Society, Inc. offers structured after-school and youth programs, along with specialized counseling for sexual abuse and domestic violence, and a mentoring program for youth.

Program: Kid’s Café at the Laura Richardson Houghton Corning Youth Center
The Kid’s Café at the CYC provides free, healthy meals and snacks to hungry children after school and during the summer as well as a safe place for the children to learn and have fun. Funding helps cover the cost of the Food Service Manager, who oversees all aspects of the Kid’s Café. Presently, over 14,000 healthy meals and snacks are provided to over 280 children per year through the Kid’s Café program.

Projected Outcomes:

The Kid’s Café will continue to serve over 14,000 healthy meals and snacks to over 280 children and teens to help alleviate childhood hunger in Corning. It provides a variety of fun educational, recreational, and social activities which will improve the children and teens’ academic performance at school and/or their social functioning in everyday life.
